The purpose of this standard is to enable the delegate to develop the knowledge to be able to solve problems and make decisions as required by a practising or potential site supervisor.

CITB Registered Employers can claim £240 for each delegate successfully completing this course and its assessment.

Guided Learning Hours

9 hours plus additional scenario-based learning which are delivered as 2 days (virtual or face-to-face).

Assessment

A Question and Answer paper completed at the end of the day and a scenario-based practical exercise.

Learning outcomes

The delegate will be able to:

  • Describe, in detail, a problem, its nature, scope and impact
  • Gather and interpret information to identify possible solutions to a problem
  • Prepare a summary of the options providing facts and evidence
  • Apply a simple decision-making technique to evaluate options to arrive at the best solution
  • Plan the implementation and communication of the decision
  • Create a detailed and SMART action plan that fully plans both the implementation and communication of the decision, thoroughly describes responsibilities and details resource requirements (including people and finance)
  • Describe which monitoring and review techniques could be used to evaluate outcomes
